DCAU Lex Luthor is similar to Dio Brando

I had watched all the main series of the DCAU and thought of Lex Luthor and Brainiac similarities to the main villain of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Dio Brando. For context, Dio Brando is an ambitious vampire who decide from stealing the Joestar to becoming God, having the famous stand, Za Warudo as his tool. Saying that I noticed that Dio character is similar to Luthor (more on him) and Brainiac in the DCAU. I will list them down.

Disclaimer: Most of my information on Jojo and Dio is based on Hamon Beat analysis. However, I trust Hamon Beat to be a reliable source of Jojo (and considering debunking Araki Forgot and answering trivia). At least DCAU have a Hamon Beat equivalent, like Serum Lake and Implicit Pretencious

  • Both Luthor and Dio are arrogant and narcissistic as they consider themselves to be the greatest and look down anybody in their way. This make them very careless and point to fault; Luthor getting poisoned by Kryptonite, beaten down by Flash, failed to kill Amazo, resurrect Darkseid instead etc. Meanwhile, Dio underestimate Jonathan in fighting him time and again, his high caused him to overestimate his capability and use his leg, only to get himself incapacipated.

  • Both of them have unlimited ambition; while both have wealthy life coming with Dio sharing the Joestar fortune and Lex having LexCorp which is the top company in Metropolis and contracts with the military. However, it is never satisfied with them as Lex grow further through criminal means and Dio poisoning George to inherit all of Joestar fortune and changed goals to conquer the world to dominate over humanity. Lex soon have his ambitions grown and decide to built an AMAZO body to become God.

  • Despite their evil, they are also both philosophical. Dio have thought about fate and gravity and the human mind and combine to create his own version of Heaven where people achieve a 'peace of mind' from understanding their fate. Luthor also know that despite his success, he will be forgotten and will do anything to avoid that fate.

  • They are both charismatic and manipulative to achieve their goals of conquering the universe. Dio managed amass followers both mercenaries and devout companions who are eternal loyal to him. He uses his charisma to attempt convince Polnereff to rejoin his side and uses it to enchant Kakyoin and Avdol. Luthor, as a businessman, uses his charisma to charm Metropolis and military clients to win their hearts and contracts, he uses the same skill in becoming the president. Luthor charisma is more emphasized in Unlimited where he is able to convince AMAZO to not kill him and Brainiac to merge each other. Luthor is manipulative that he manipulated Superman to attack the power source to defame him and manipulate both JL and Cadmus so he can take both them down.

  • They both have their hated rivals. Dio with the Joestars and Luthor with Superman and to the extent, the Justice League. Dio while look down on everybody, find the Joestars to be a threat to his plan and will do anything to take them down, wearing his charisma facade to show a face of a monster. Luthor has shown his virulent hatred on Superman for being a man who is higher than him and dedicated projects to undermine Superman.

  • Their goal to conquer the universe. Dio wishes to conquer the universe through the Made in Heaven means where everyone knows their fate except the Made in Heaven user who is immune to fate, making him God of the new world. (Some theories about Nijimura father part of Dio plan to resurrect himself from The World destruction), Luthor merged with Brainiac to continue the goal of assimilating the universe and remake in their own image, becoming God. Both have different methods but they have the same means of standing high over all the beings.

  • Being high in power. As soon they gain new power, they gone completely mad. Dio with his famous meme where he increase his timestop for additional seconds after drinking Joestar blood, making him very insane in Kono Dio Da style. Same goes with Luthor where he merged with Brainiac and drunk on the power he is given, while more composed than Dio, he still uses the newfound power to torment the Justice League and take time to execute Flash

  • Their callousness over other beings. Dio had no care for humanity, he slaughtered and turn villagers into zombies, made a mother kill her own baby, caused all the boat passengers to be killed, treating all the girls he had sex with as food stock, and in the OVA, killed civilians during the battle with Jotaro. The same goes with Luthor, he had ignored to help Mercy who had been very loyal, during his criminal times, threaten civilians life so the Justice League and police will be distracted and join Brainiac in an omnicide campaign to reshape the universe.

Although Dio and Luthor is nearly the same, Dio and Braniac share some themes instead of character.

  • In a sense, Jonathan and Dio came from the same home before completely burn down. Same way Superman and Brainiac who came from Krypton before escaping its demise.

  • Brainiac stranded in space before killing its rescuers, same way Dio killed the people who found the boat. Not to mentioned their newfound thinking and purpose after stranded (maybe going insane). With Brainiac self preserving himself to his new command of absorbing the universe and destroying the original (perhaps a way to justify his own survival). With Dio rethinking his way of conquering the world through Heaven and his philosophy on fate while driven insane in his isolation.

  • Both wanting their rival bodies. One of the YouTube comment in Serum Lake video mentioned that Brainiac taking Superman body is equivalent of Dio taking Jonathan body. Both villians had some twisted connection with their rivals and want their body as sort of twisted respect.

That is all the points I kind think of for comparing Dio and Lex Luthor, to an extent Brainiac. Am I overwhelming you guys with those thoughts? I like to know your opinion.
